Kurdish Textile Museum – Weaving the Spirit of Kurdistan

What Is It?

Set inside Erbil Citadel, this museum celebrates the ancient art of Kurdish weaving — a tradition passed down through generations of artisans.

Why Visit?

  • Explore colorful carpets, kilims, and nomadic tents from across Kurdistan.

  • Watch live demonstrations of traditional weaving and dyeing.

  • Learn about the symbolism behind every pattern and thread.

A Museum with a Story

Founded in 2004, the museum aims to preserve the fading art of handwoven textiles. Each carpet on display is a page from Kurdistan’s cultural memory.
