Al-Gilani Mosque & Shrine 

 

What Is It?

Located in central Baghdad, the Al-Gilani Mosque and Shrine is dedicated to Sheikh Abdul Qadir al-Gilani (1077–1166), a revered Islamic scholar, jurist, and Sufi saint. He founded the Qadiriyya order, one of the most widespread Sufi brotherhoods in the Muslim world. His resting place attracts visitors and pilgrims from across Iraq and beyond.
